Does the sprayer need to be new?
No.  If the sprayer is not new, make sure it is clean and dry.

Can I use a roller instead of a sprayer?
Yes. Use of a solvent resistant thick nap roller is only recommended in areas where spray application is not practical. Spray provides the most uniform application.

Can I use a brush instead of a sprayer?
Yes. Use of a solvent resistant, natural bristle or foam brush is only recommended in areas where spray application is not practical. Spray provides the most uniform application.

Why do I need to sweep off excess liquid on horizontal applications?
Failure to sweep off or broom to an area that will absorb excess liquid on horizontal applications may result in either blotching or surface becoming slick when wet.

What do I need to know about treating cedar wood?
Cedar contains tannic acid that needs to bleed out naturally.  Sealing it too early could result in the acids being trapped behind the sealant.  Cedar needs to age 60-90 days before applying FROGSKIN™

What do I need to know about treating redwood?
Redwood contains tannic acid that needs to bleed out naturally.  Sealing it too early could result in the acids being trapped behind the sealant.  Redwood needs to age 180 days before applying FROGSKIN™.

What do I need to know about treating pressure treated wood?
Pressure treated wood goes through a process that forces chemicals into the wood. Pressure treated wood needs to age 60-90 days before applying FROGSKIN™.

Does other wood need an aging period?
No.  If your wood is not cedar, redwood, or pressure treated, you can apply FROGSKIN™ when it is dry.

Can I use FROGSKIN™ on synthetic stucco?
No.  FROGSKIN™ can only be used on plaster type stucco.

Can I apply FROGSKIN™ to non-porous materials?
No. Do not apply to painted material, aluminum, metal, plastic, asphalt, tar-based surfaces, or any non-porous surface.  FROGSKIN™needs to penetrate the material in order to work.  On non-porous materials it will not penetrate and will likely create an unsightly film on the surface.  If you are not sure in your surface is porous, please contact us for help.

Where can I find a chemical resistant sprayer?
Any home improvement store and many online stores sell these.  Look for a pump-up garden sprayer with viton gaskets and a brass spray tip.

Can I leave the FROGSKIN™ can open?
No. Be sure to close the lid on the can of FROGSKIN™ because evaporation of the liquid causes it to solidify.

How quickly should I use FROGSKIN™ after opening the can?
Within 48 hours.

Can a homeowner apply FROGSKIN™?
Yes.  It is easy to apply.

Can FROGSKIN™ be applied over painted or stained surfaces?
No, surfaces to be protected must be free of any other paint, stain or coating.

Can FROGSKIN™ be painted over?
No, paint or stain will not bond with surfaces protected with FROGSKIN™.

Will FROGSKIN™ keep wood from graying?
Wood will gray naturally, but FROGSKIN™ will slow down the process by approximately 50%.
